Eather pull engine and tranny or, lift vehical and pull tranny out via removing the crossmember. you have to disconnect the drive shaft. disconnect the slave cylinder, there are 2 14mm bolts the hold the tranny to the crossmember. from inside the cab disconnect the shifter. then there are i think 6 bolts around the bellhousing. then the tranny will fall out. (its fun to bench press) so use a floor jack and a good friend. then you will have access to the back of the motor and the clutch. there are 6 or 8 12mm bolts around the clutch. I would recommend getting the flywheel resurfaced. Also recommend buying gear oil sence you will pull the drive shaft the oil will come out.

Low and slow covered it i think, It really isnt that hard when you get into it. It all just kinda fits together, just make sure everything is lined up right, oh and put the clutch disc in the right way lol.

I have done this a couple times.

I use slings under the transmission run from one frame rail to another. I put about 4-6 inches of slack in them. Then, I can pull the transmission back and the slings hold it suspended while i swap in clutch parts. It saves having to jack it back into position. You tighten the slings and kind of caterpiller the transmission forward to reinstall it.

The shifter housing has 12mm-headed bolts bolts that you can get to under the truck. . . you don't have to pull the shifter and the boot from the top.

Drain the transmission oil before you pull the driveshaft.

There is a pilot bearing inside the crankshaft tail that will need replacing at the same time you do the clutch.

You might want to change out the rear main seal since you will have access to it if you drop out the flywheel.

To get flywheel bolts tight or loose, and keep the flywheel from spinning, you can put one of the transmission bolts back in and use it as a pivot point with a pry bar.

The emergency brake cable runs across the top of the crossmember support, and if you have the emergency brake applied, it is really hard to get the crossmember free of the cable.
