I have done this a couple times.
I use slings under the transmission run from one frame rail to another. I put about 4-6 inches of slack in them. Then, I can pull the transmission back and the slings hold it suspended while i swap in clutch parts. It saves having to jack it back into position. You tighten the slings and kind of caterpiller the transmission forward to reinstall it.
The shifter housing has 12mm-headed bolts bolts that you can get to under the truck. . . you don't have to pull the shifter and the boot from the top.
Drain the transmission oil before you pull the driveshaft.
There is a pilot bearing inside the crankshaft tail that will need replacing at the same time you do the clutch.
You might want to change out the rear main seal since you will have access to it if you drop out the flywheel.
To get flywheel bolts tight or loose, and keep the flywheel from spinning, you can put one of the transmission bolts back in and use it as a pivot point with a pry bar.
The emergency brake cable runs across the top of the crossmember support, and if you have the emergency brake applied, it is really hard to get the crossmember free of the cable.
