Hey guys, I am in the middle of my weber carb install and I have a few questions about it.

I have included pictures to aid in the questions.

In this first picture, I have a large square around a tube that I do not know what it connects too. Please advise.

Also, I have a smaller tube running to the distributor, and just curious is that is correct.

I am going to put my FPR inline with that fuel line thats going into the carb on the right side. Thats correct right?

Also a word or two on exhaust.

How can I plug up what I cut off? I drew lines to point the pieces that need capped.

I plan on ordering a pacesetter header soon, maybe really soon.

There is a big price difference in the painted and ceramic coated.
How much cooler is the ceramic coated one? Is it worth it? Will it keep the hood from fading due to heat?

I was leaning towards the one that is painted black, and putting some of that 500F temp paint on it.

What are you thoughts on this?

squared item is the fuel bowl vent and goes to your charcoal canister and yes that other hose goes to the distributor. A pacesetter header will illiminate the need for you to plug up all those pipes.

for now the plug them up you can pinch the pipes with a pair of channel locks, it will be a little tough but you can do it. then if you have access to a welder just tack the rest shut

Can I just plug up the one going to the canister? I removed the charcoal canister.

im thinkin about pluggin mine off with a stock carb just cuz they are ugly.. if i removed all the emissions stuff will i run rich? or lean? or will it be good? has anyone else tried it with a stock carb??? sorry for the hi-jack lol

for sure the pipe coming off the carb can be plugged. Back in the days of REAL webers they were 1/8th" npt that you can use a flush plug in to clean the look up. I can't remember if the newer spain built ones have the threads anymore.

you should be able to get some brass plugs to fit in the upper ports of the exhaust manifold. Then you best off to weld the lowers shut by the bracket down by the oil pan.

Since everyone has answered your questions here is a picture of my pacesetter painted with the VHT flameproof paint that may help you make you decision.

Getting one and painting it as you did, is a lot cheaper than the ceramic coated ones.

I just wonder if there is a big difference in heat to bother with getting the ceramic coated one.

I am thinking of getting the truck repainted again later and I would hate for the headers to be so hot that the hood fades

these motors dont run too hot, hell i ran my truck to normal temp and pulled the valve cover off and adjusted my valves and when i touched it i didnt get burned or anything, so i wouldnt worry about heat.. thats just me, plus i painted my stock one with vht 2000* and took the heat shield off, never had a problem..

Before you paint anything on those headers, you will have to remove the original black finish. Spraying a high heat, VHT coating, or any specialised coating over the original black stuff doesnt keep it from burning off from underneath. I suggest getting the black one and then if you want it powder coated/ceramic coated, have it done somewhere local in your area. I had some problems with pacesetter when I ordered mine. They only send them out for coating when you order them. Mines took a long time untill it got shipped out. Anyways...heres a pic of the coated one.

Even these will get a little dull after time but still looks better than it getting all brown and rusted looking.

Heres a pic of my bowl vent pluged up. I hear some people attaching a hose to little fuel filter and running it somewhere away from the engine.
