Same here Cusser. I could crank my truck until it got to running temp. (really good battery) Then it would fire and run all day. But cold it wouldnt spark. Ended up being the pickup in the dist. I now have a box of known good distributors in case that happens again.
Cusser and Haywire Fab, Which sensor was dizzy bad? I am having issues with the truck not wanting to start when the weather is damp. ECU has been repaired, new plug wires and coil and distributor.
I just went back and read the entire thread again. the Hall effect sensor makes sense. this would also add up since the issues with starting/running when damp and a hall effect sensor is pretty much a switch that is triggered by a magnet. I have seen these used in fuel injection systems as a speed/timing reference. so how hard is it to replace the distributor and what will be the critical thing to watch for when making the replacement?
