Is there truth to the "redneck alternator test"? Pull the Positive cable while running the engine, if it dies quickly the alternator is bad, if it keeps running then the battery is bad .. Charge system light came on, I did that test and it kept running so I guess I need a new battery.

Also got a center console in there finally -

My buddy brought a voltmeter over, found zero voltage drops and everything checked out at 14.5v - only thing he found was a voltage spike that lasted about 20 seconds so he said to try a new voltage regulator.
