I picked up a 1987 Mazda B2000 with a blown head gasket for $750. Also bought a 1989 Mazda B2600I 4x4 for $1300. a little over a year ago. My buddy Jon, Fred (brother) and I swapped the front bumper, hood, wiper cowl, fenders and, bed. Then sold the B2600I for $1000. The first modification i eliminated the emissions. Next we pulled off the head and sent it to a machine shop to get hot tanked, valve grind and, new valve guide seals. While i am waiting on the head, i decided to do a wire tuck. Got the head back from the machine shop and put everything back together. Started it and noticed a lot of smoke coming out the tail pipe. Pulled the exhaust manifold off. In side of the manifold was covered in oil. So i knew it needed new rings. Pulled the engine out and stripped it down to the block. Sent the block out to the machine shop where they did the following: hot tanked, surfaced, new freeze plugs, crank & rod bearings, .020 oversize pistons & rings, and oil pump. I sent the head back to the machine shop where they did a match port and polish. Also installed new rocker arms and a stage 2 cam from Delta Cam. While the head and block were at the machine shop, I sent the intake manifold to my dad. He turned some aluminum cylinders on our lathe. After plugging the vacuum ports he welded across the top of them. Then shipped it back. I then cut off the two ground mounts and reshaped the water inlet on the intake manifold. A few days later i dropped off some parts to have them chromed: brake vacuum hardline, valve cover, intake manifold, distributor, plug wire loom, thermostat housing, cam gear, back timing cover, water & oil pump, pulleys, stock mounting brackets &, the oil pan. Back in July of 2010 Jon and I going from wrecking yard to wrecking yard and i came acrossed 95 Honda Civic coupe. We ended up cutting the roof off for the sunroof sheet metal. Someone beat me to the sunroof. Back home my other brother (Kyle) had a sunroof laying around and said if a come back to Washington State i could have it. Late September i was surfing craigslist and came across 2 Ford Galaxie parts cars. I picked up 1961 & 62 dash & steering wheel. Back in November i took a trip back to Bremerton, WA. to pick up my sunroof. There my friends i had gone to a wrecking yard and found a couple of 1973 Ford Couriers. I ended up buying a steering wheel. Still don't know if i will use it. While i was back home, i stopped my old roommates house to see if he got rid of my old car (1987 Toyota Supra). Sure enough it was still there! Fred and I got the IRS off then hauled it back to Phoenix, AZ.
