BIG plans
Question number 1!~
Is this 1,970cc motor worth working on working over and getting perfect .,,, WERE CAN I GET PARTS ???
should i just grab a different mazdab motor? i wanna keep with this 25+mpg,, Weber Carb in the mail otw!~ found a header but not sure if i should keep going on this motor or just get a newer style..... ?~>~>~>~ what is a good valve lash adjustment for a worn in older motor such as this ?? i set them to book stats and there still making lots of noise
Plans are once i get the motor and Front end play under control and in Perfect order, Road trip from TX to Cali were i have a good friend that's going me some Special bag work !~~! at a special price!
no valves just the notch links front end and bags ill finish up the valves and all when i return home!
then i will move on to paint interior and such~~!

if i am lucky enough to get some feedback here i will post pics and info and try to keep the thread going threw the entire project!
Thanks in advance!~

Looks like a pretty good truck to start out with. Do you have any pics of your past projects?

Unfortunately the engine was specific to that body style. You can look into a 2.0 ford courier (up to 82).
From experience and reading tons of threads on these body trucks. 84 seems to be the worst when it comes to these "ticks" that dont wanna go away. Random idle. Carb never wanting to dial in. etc. Some parts places like to list parts like all the b2000s were the same. If it has a year range of higher than 1984, it wont work on yours.
These trucks like to be pain in the asses about just random things. But you can help but love them. Hell I bought my 3rd one yesterday

The Courier

The courier is still in the works. I had to drop everything for a customers car.

They never seem to start out pretty, there are a few here and there that look like they were never driven. But its not hard to straighten em out

Sweet trucks mann, any posiblites on were i can find body parts? ,. fenders are way shot would like to just slap some good ones on it,
So you saying there is no bolt in possibilities from newer b2 trucks. mannn thats a bummer

So if im understanding correctly whats my best option ? .. if absolutely necessary i guess i could weld up some new brackets for something,
if it were easy i would love to just throw a 22r in it. but i just dont see that being a Cake walk,
. I very highly recommended speed shop in town gave me a quote of 1,400 to 1,600 bux for Total Rebuild this stock motor. ... block and head
but for parts availability down the road maybe i should look into a Different motor,???
Any input thread links on Swaps that have been done no crazy fuel injection or V8s Sweet stuff but not what im looking for in this build...

A.ford 2.3.is always an option. The couriers had em. As for fenders, ive seen em for like 50-200 bux on random sites through google.
If you look for ones off an 80 courier, you'll loose that ugly reflector and the dip in the panel.

There is some fenders on ebay, and as far as parts. Friends are your best bet lol. Truck is 27 years old so having connections is always a plus.

So i did a compression check today and Im getting 120on#1 119#2 120#3 121#4 filling pretty good about maybe just having this head redone at the speed shop, and putting some money into this little motor, is there any Mods such as bigger valves or stiffer springs i should think about... .. i mean since Im there i mite as well make it worth the trip in rite? Any mods to possibly keep it quite and avoid ticking lol. any input on possible cam grinds ?
i read somewhere that port and polish could be harmful on this motor.. is that only if done by someone not knowing how to do it?

Friends that are also into this sweet truck i am in need of!!
