I got this beater truck last year for $380. Basically, the guy wanted $400 (so I ran to bank and had 400 in cash). When I saw the condition it was in, I told him $350 and he said 'ok'. But I didn't have any smaller bills. So I emptied his wallet of a measly $20 and gave him 4 hundred dollar bills. (note to self: ALWAYS carry smaller bills).

My intention was to just use it to run into the woods to fetch firewood. I did that all winter and into spring. I had it running fine (brake lines fixed, exhaust fixed, timing, carb), but had to jump it everytime I shut it off.

I only had to fill up tank 1x all winter, so figured I should drive it around with such great MPGs.

Well, it shook like crazy. So I swapped motor mounts and had to rebuild the driveshaft (I posted a video of my rebuild process in another discussion on this board). I also mounted some new tires on the old steelies (bought a manual tire changer like Harbor Freight and TSC _used_ to sell)

(I forgot this part earlier) so I yanked out the alternator. Someone had hacked a 45amp Mitsubishi car alternator and had it hanging by the tensioner bar _only_. It had a bad diode pack (wasn't charging battery) and wasn't hooked up correctly (I couldn't shut off the truck with key --I mean keyless broken ignition-- and would have to stall it out). Bought a brand new (not rebuilt) all chrome 1-wire GM 80 amp for less than a rebuild. Flipped it upside down and mounted just fine.

I bought a nice tach to put in it. But then when I went to mount it on the dash, I thought it was too much a POS to mount such a nice tach. So I gutted the complete interior out. (down to only the carpet in the doghouse).
I dyed the seats (which were blue) and did a custom job on the dash and dash components, dyed the steering wheel, pillar covers, carpet, etc.

Here is a photo after (didn't realize it would look so nice, otherwise would have done a before shot)
