Where to go in south florida?

I was watching 20/20 last week and they said South Florida housing has increased more than an other area in the US in the past three years. They said it has gone up 90-100%!!!! That's fukkin unbelievable!

Fucking rediculous - at that rate, I will never be able to purchase a home!

Yeah. I thoguht about asking the owner of our house if I can buy it from him the next time I deploy. Then I started looking at houses for sale in our neighborood. Our house wou'd prolly go for about $300K. And I'd have to have at least 10% down AND closing costs? I'm sorry, but don't ya think if I had $35K in my account that my truck would be finished?

What's even worse is that there's no reason for the prices to really go down in the future - so in a way we're screwed no matter what. I blame the snow birds coming down that drive up the prices - moving here and all. Sucks for us.

Hey, hey, now.... I'm one of those guys from up north...My house was only $198k,that was 3yrs ago, now my nieghbor thats behind me, is selling his house for $356k.... THATS is a large jump...But if you want a house thats a good size, your going to have to come out of pocket.... I'm in Kissimmee, Fl and only 10mins from Orlando, I'm thinking about moving back to Michigan though.... HARD to make money here!!!!!

property value here has increased over 1000% in the past 10 years. we bought our land (2 acres) for 11,000 bucks. Now the 1.5 acre lots are going for no less than 150K JUST FOR THE LAND !!!! Our land and house that we had built here ridiculously cheap 10 years ago has tripled in value. I know I can't afford a house right now, especially because of that. I'm probably going north when I buy.

you live in loxahatche crizn? i got mass friends out there. i went to pbl hig school and had a lot of friends bussed in from there. after looking at the real estate costs i started looking into more northern like tamoa. so i guess i need to retract my earlier statement and say i will probably be goin west coast of florida. my dad is a broker out of west aplm and put me onto the west coast says to get in over there now and within ten years 200k home will be at near 500k which is sweet and my price range. my wife is cool with tampa too and shes got friends there. thanks for all the advice yall. wish i could back to downtown west palm. my parents bought their house at auction for 88k in 1989 and now its been appraised at over 750k! just gotta wait for them to move into a condo and then my property tax every year will equal what i can afford as a house payment!
