Those inner fenders look snazzy! Im leaning towards something like that myself.

Love it. This is such a clean build. You're making good progress.

That's a great thread on the build. I'm still sitting on my mazda that I've own for now 5yrs. I bought it from an old man for 500 with blown head gasket. All original just siting waiting for me to do the same thing. With your thread and others on I can get into my build and to the same thing like you guys did. Without your build and threads most of us wouldn't know what to do. Again bro nice truck

Thanks boys! We built a new clutch pedal arm to clear the firewall tub, bleed the clutch line and its working great. We also seam sealed and painted the floor and all the sheetmetal work inside the cab to keep everything from rusting. Tomorrow we plan to bleed the brake system and get them working again and start plumbing the damn air system... My bro spent alot of money on fittings the other day (about $150 worth) and he already had alot of the air line connections on the truck, so for anybody reading this that doesnt know already, you have to factor an additional $200 give or take just for air fittings cause they add up fast.

And Crewy, Im glad our build will help out. This is the reason I try to update with as many pictures as I can so you all can have something to look at and understand how this stuff works... I have spent countless hours researching everything we have done as well as following other builds to get to where we are now. Just trying to pay it forward.

Brakes are functional now, hood release cable was reinstalled, engine to body and battery to body grounds are done, throttle cable was fixed and is now working properly and the radiator and coolant hoses are now installed. We are plugging away trying to get the truck to move under its own power again and wers getting close. The wiring harness looks a bit intimidating but once we dig into it Im sure we will figure it out no problem. Heres a pic of the painted floor and the valve setup / air management, we had to order 4- 3/8" crosses to connect everything but they should be here next week.

Good stuff. What did you use to paint the floor? A chassis saver of just rustoleum?
lowlyfe   +1y
We used rustoleum. It works great, I painted the floor of my tbird with it over 3 years ago and it has held up really well.
kovz   +1y
That's what I'm talking about! I use the same on my truck. I did the whole frame and suspension parts with it. It's only about $8/qt and holds up well. Not like my truck sees winter road conditions or anything.
lowlyfe   +1y
Right, this project wont see winter either but if this were to be a high dollar hot rod or collector car we would likely go with something a little better but for a mini truck I feel its perfect, cheap and effective plus it looks nice when it dries. Brush it on, roll it on or spray it!

Well the truck moved under its own power today for the first time since the original tear down. We got most of the wiring harness back in the truck and the air system all done aside from wiring the compressors. Next up we plan to wire the compressors, make an exhaust system, build mounts for the bed and prime the inner fenders....
Heres a little video and a couple of pics from today -
