u know when people offer u free info u don't have to choose to get butt hurt all the time........my point was orange peel is not caused by what u suggested....something after seeing the paint jobs u would understand since u ae using high solids clear and mutlicoats of it to cover candys and tape lines... ps house of kolor copyrighted spelling kandys with a k ..something the rep shared with me ... apparently its to keep other candy manufactures from copying it ... but who knows they may come after you.... Just kidding... i said just kidding

jrock...your posts are so hard to read...you're a trip...haha. I didnt take it like you were calling me an idiot. It's a toss back to the guy at the paint store...I told him I'd be an idiot to try metallic. The thing of it is, I dont take defeat well...so it's hard to spray this truck over and over only to have it come out like Rhino Liner. It looks like crap. I consider myself an artist...made a living doing it for quite some time...so not being able to paint is frustrating. I appreciate all of your help as well as the other guys. I WILL get this. It WILL look ok for a rookie...and I'll post the pics to prove it. Im too damn stubborn to let it beat me.

My goal with the single-stage was to cut down on time and all the sanding/polishing...OOPS! Guess I missed that mark a bit. Next time...two-stage all the way.

I'd take you up on that. This is frustrating. I painted a door in auto-body class in HS and it worked well. Of course the instructor set the gun up and told me what to do...and it was 20 years ago. It was a siphon feed gun too...so I thought I'd try the Binks...but the HVLP is prolly what I'll finish it with.

dialed the paint gun in a little better, thinned the paint and practiced a little...WAY better results. I can live with what I got this time. A little wet sanding and buffing and I'll be on the road to a shiny new finish. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.
