So I decided it was about time to get a new build thread going for my newish ride.
I picked this one up a couple of months ago and have been busy sorting out a bunch of mechanical issues, now most of that's sorted, I'm starting on modifying what was up until I got it, a very original ride.
So far I've overhauled the ignition system, overhauled the clutch hydraulics, redone the rear brakes, fixed my faulty fuel sender, got the air cond working and changed the gearbox oil.
Also put in a new head unit as the factory one was stuffed, ditched the factory carby and fied a 180 Holley (weber 32/36), fitted a tacho cluster and last night fitted up my raider headlights and painted my very sun damaged grill plastics.

Plans are to keep it static, with reset rear leafs and drop lca's, 4x4 sheet metal and 18s, tinted windows, and something close to factory colour.

Thanks very much, and Nah mate, I'm not in the us, I'm another Aussie infiltrator hahaha.
Theres no difference I can think of other than a few bolt on parts, some badges and the compliance plates......Nothing you couldn't change if you wanted to well other than the whole right hand drive thing.....
Just ask mikey if you didn't know better you'd swear it was an Aussie courier , right down to the number plates.

Ok, so I have a dead short somewhere in my park/dash wiring....
Any suggestions or common causes?
So far I've rulled out the tail light harness, the combination switch, the dimer , the blue and red factory stereo light wire and the parklights themselves.... I also removed, repaired and checked the 2 previously installed trailler plug looms
Next plan is to cut the feed wire from the cab tothe park lights at the fire wall before it goes into the engine bay to isolate the two parts of the circuit.
I'm expecting the fault to be in the cab somewhere, cause it hasn't been any of the other simple things I've checked , and knowing my luck, its always the most difficult, obscure or otherwise just plain rediculous when it comes to problems with my cars.
Any help would be awesome, I'm not to stoked at having to go thru the dash loom wire by wire.....

what are the symptoms. does your interior not have electricity when the trucks running? does the truck not run because of it? did u take your dash off or anything?

Hey fvr, man I was half asleep when I wrote that... Dash and park lights is where the fault is. Every time I turn the park lights on the 10 amp park/tail light fuse blows. The red wire with black trace from the combination switch has continuity to ground even with everything from the loom unplugged.
So that side of the circuit has a rub thru or nick somewhere. Was hoping someone has had the same problem and could point me to where they found a short.... But I guess ill be finding a wiring diagram and doing some in-depth probing.

Ok, so I've narrowed the electrical fault that I'm having with my lights down to the dash.
There is a red and black wire that runs from the black dash loom plug, up to the dash cluster, dimmer and I'm assuming pretty much anything else on the dash that lights up.
Would anyone here have a detailed wiring diagram for the dash loom they would be willing to share?
At this stage its looking like a dash out job, and a diagram wouldnt go astray if I have to do a rewire.
Cheers.

Added bit* for those of you who've pulled your dash, roughly how long does it take? I'm thinking with a cordless screwdriver and an offsider it should be able to be done in under an hour...??, or am I dreaming lol.

Wooo hooo, fixed the electrical fault!!!, stereo wiring was somehow tied into the light circuit and was shorting to earth thru the headunit. Weird thing is, the light fuse would blow, but the headunit would keep running .......
Aahhh electrical fun.
This kiddies, is why you should always have a detailed wiring diagram handy when doing testing, wiring or diagnostics.....
Hopefully now this is sorted I can go back to the body work, I have a raider hood (like a courier hood with a b2600i bubble), 4x4 front guards and bar ends all to be painted and fittedaas well as my pajero 18s.

Oh, is anyone here able to do a photo chop for me, I have a few things in mind that I wouldbt mind having mocked up before I commit to doing them.

Thanks guys

I had pretty much the same problem with mine man! And I had just done a full wire tuck and stuff on it. Turned out to be stereo though thankfully. Damn I hate wiring!!

Good luck with the build too mate. I'm in Aus too!
