Hi yall I am the new owner of a 1990 B2600i. Its my FIRST truck, even though its a "toy". lol. but I love it. its very clean, till I got it. I have the idea to turn it into a pimped out work truck. now I know most of you are thinking how can you do anymore to it to make it a work truck. how about inside the cab a 1000 watt power inverter, a 3way cigarette lighter to power GPS cell phone anything that that would need it. now I know "but you have a 1000 watt power inverter why do you need a 3way?" the power inverter is to power the cordless tool. I am going to have it so that its not on all the time. still working on how I can do that so I don't kill the batteries, yes batteries. I am going to be putting in about 5-6 more batteries in the bed of the truck next to the cab. I was thinking of putting a toolbox in the bed but not sure yet. and how about a full system and underglow. I want it too not look like a full work truck. ill have pic up as soon as I can of my new truck. if you have any ideas of what I could do to make it a better work truck I am always open to hear them. thanks

if you do all that you will need to upgrade to either the chevy or rx7 alternator.

My advice don't do any of that. Use an actual full size. Can't fit a sheet of plywood in these. but it is your truck so do whatever makes you happy.

I have thought about when I do add all that what I would need to do under the hood seeing as I don't have ac I thought about taking the pump out and putting one there for just the batteries as I well be putting a bus bar where the jack goes I found a nice hole there that I can run power and ground. I want to hard wire all the extras that I am putting in that is my I am thinking 5-6 more batteries. but I am not sure if I can take the ac pump out or not and put a big altenater or even two of them there. I am not that far yet as I need to make the system box first seeing as I wont be able to use the stock speaker holder in the back lol.

So I have thought about it all night and day I want to put a rack over the cad and bed of my truck. But don't know where to start. I want it to be able to hole wood when I have to do work, but also at the same time come out if I have to haul something tall. So I thought of making the cross bar in the back, near the tail gate, removable but not sure if the frame can hold without it. What I was thinking of doing is on that cross bar is making a lip for it to set in and use a pin and R-key ok both sides to hold it in when I need it there. anyone have ideas how I can do this and if there is a thread that shows someone making one? it would help a lot. I plan to have pics up today of my truck and what I have done so far.

Welcome!
I also have a b2600i "work truck". It's a lot of fun. I did the Chevy Alternator swap and it is very nice.
If you follow this thread, it tells you how to do the alternator, below in the comments I go into details about the b2600i specifics.

What do you mean by "system box"? for sub woofer, or to enclose your batteries?

Good Luck!

thank you and for the system box its for both sub woofer and the batteries. I did a test run and I am going to leave the batteries in the bed I was going to move then in the cab but it set the box to high up.

what do you mean by that do you think its a bad idea to make it a work truck. I was going to get a full size truck for it but some of the places I have to go a full size wont fit.
