So here's where it's all started. Picked er up for $500 off craigslist. My intension is to have a clean dependable daily driver to keep the miles off my k2500 and put some gas money back in my pocket.

So then the obvious next step...

Just to find that not only does it need rings but cylinders 3 and 4 have scoring/pitting

and 2-3 blown head gasket.

Ouch. Whats the plan?

Tonight I'm tearing the short block down. Going to mic the crank and based on how that measures I'm going to punch this block .040 and do a complete rebuild or I'm going to start looking for a donor short block at the minimum.

Sounds like a plan! In for updates

Head and flywheel is already at the machine shop. Head getting checked/decked. Flywheel resurfaced. I'll post status pics of the short block tonight along with some interior stuff I've been working on.

Alright so I didn't get into the motor until after dark so there's no pics yet. But I did get these seats. They're out of an 02 PT loser. Worked out really nice using two sets of bench seat brackets in the factory mounting holes with pieces of 1/8" x2" flat stock welded to the feet after I removed them from the original tracks.

Here's it mocked up in the truck

And then I just centered up the pt cruiser tracks up on the brackets I made and welded the seats down. The plastic that goes back on the pt seats will cover the tracks and brackets.

Started on the center console today. Going to end up covering it in carpet instead of using the gray paint...junkyard Buick console in custom fabbed wood frame. Its a start. Gotta machine a radio faceplate and secure it to truck floor as well as install factory shift boot. A lot of progress is being held up as I wait for my inner shift boot to a://static.mazdabscene.com/userphotos/2014/242/15874/l.jpg
Also have started painting. Will post pics soon

Alright so I've got my console wrapped, dyed carpet dropped in, machined a radio face plate with jeep liberty power outlets inserted, painted the back wall of the cab what the exterior will be and here it is all mocked up. Let me know what ya think ://static.mazdabscene.com/userphotos/2014/244/15918/l.jpg

Looks great. I like how you combined stock stuff with a custom console. I think it turned out nice, and very functional for a daily.
