I bought this pickup for a slight project. I didn't really want to dig into the motor much, just raise it back up and make it a good daily driver again. I bought it with an idle issue, after fussing with the carb, trying to clean and adjust it, I elected to get a weber 32/36. The truck wouldn't idle after it was installed, turns out intake gasket I installed ripped, and I needed a pressure regulator. I bought a new gasket and a holly pressure regulator, installed both and the truck was running great. I am an idiot and forgot to fill coolant, Aprox 2 miles into the first ride with the new carb, I overheated it. I thought I could hopefully just pull the head and replace the head gasket, but after it was off and I inspected it, the head gasket looked just fine and I didn't see any head cracks. So now, to be safe, I have a remanufactured head, new head gasket, new pistons, rings and bearing set on the way. I am pretty new to this in depth of a project, so all the advise you have will be greatly appreciated. Also, a big thank you to all of you that have helped me so far. All the threads on rebuilding a motor, and lots of you tube are a huge help!

interior, overall pretty good shape. I need a new column cover. I also installed a new blinker/wiper switch. Super easy to do!

Rebuilding this engine isn't too hard. Just take your time.

You probably could have taken that head to a machine shop to be rebuilt for less than buying a replacement. That's what I did with mine.

It really doesn't seem to bad, after watching a bunch of you tube videos and reading a bunch of tech posts on this sight. I was thinking about having the head machined but I saw someone say they spent $200ish to have it done. The refurbished head was only $300 plus the valves are adjusted and everything is clean, so I can have a fresh start. I probably didn't need to order new pistons and rings either, but again, the idea of a fresh start is what sold me. Plus they were fairly cheep.

Day two of trying to pull the oil pan was another failed attempt. Borrowed an electric impact to get the cross member out of the way, got 3 bolts out, couldn't get the fourth. I need a good, long cheater bar to get it I guess. All the pan bolts are out, tried hammering and prying, but with zero success. Any ideas and tips would help. I am starting to get a bit frustrated!
