It most definitely could be moisture inside the dist.
Pull the cap and look at the inside of it.

mzd4X4,

Now you got me thinking if it's water in the fuel?
Did you try swapping that arcing spark plug wire just to remove it from a suspected cause of the problem?

Even the moisture in the distributor cap is a possibility as well.

its been raining pretty good so i havent had the chance to check on it and i wont get a chance tonight my wife is gonna be induced so ill have a brand new baby tomorrow but as soon as i get the chance ill check it out

so i pulled the distributor apart and the disc didnt show signs of condensation but under the plate below the disc did show a small amount of moisture so whether its enough to cause the issue is hard to say but seeing as how the stutter comes and goes as it pleases a small amount kinda makes sense so im gonna let it set inside and dry out for a few days and well see what happens

so heres the update i changed the plug wires and put the distributor back together fired it up, and its started and ran like an old diesel engine it slowly started up rpms came up slowly and only came up to about 400 (truck only idles at 450-500 when running good) but sounded like it was dieseling (keep in mind its fuel injected) still ran but give it any gas and it cuts right out, not stalls out like it should if it were air or fuel issue. but seeing as how it got worse with new wires and put the distributor back together and yes the timing is set right. what is goin on???

Bad plugs?

If it's an EFI truck, don't overlook the possibility that the ECU has gone. It's very common for a few capacitors in the ECU to fail. It's a pretty easy fix. A bad ECU can cause a myriad of problems, one of them being similar to what you're experiencing.

Plugs are new, symptoms changed on me for no apparent reason so ECU is getting replaced in the next few days

Visually check the board before replacing, search Earls posts he has a couple of excellent pictures of leaking capacitors.
Check the earth leads off battery and off the back of the block/head.
Check your fuel filter/pressure just in case

Cant visually check ECU its covered in some gray sylicone stuff but fuel filter and pressure are good, and I've already ordered a remanufactured ECU thwarting should be in in a few days so well see what happens
