Dash light help

I've done a search and replaced my dimmer switch, headlight switch, all the bulbs, and fuse is good. But I'm not getting any dash lights all the dummy lights and blinkers light up but the ones that light up my speedometer, temp, gas, and heater controls don't. They worked for a few days and now nothing. Truck doesn't have a stereo either if that helps oh yea trucks a 89' b2600i

You need to make sure you're getting juice to the bulbs. Pull the gauge cluster out and check it. You can check to see if the lights work with the cluster out of the truck. Use a 12 volt battery, and 2 jumper wires. Touch one jumper wire to the copper lead on the circuit board that goes to one side of the bulb, and touch the other lead to the other side. All the dash lights are on the same circuit, so the all should light up.

Well tried your idea and still nothing could it be a serious short somewhere? I don't see any messed up wires or burnt wires any where.

Instrument panel lights are part of the same circuit that feeds your tail lights and front parking lights, re-check those. If they work, see if you get 12 volt positive to the dimmer switch when the lights are in the "on" position. Report back, go stepwise, logically.

1. If you had a short, you'd be blowing fuses or wires would be melting.

2. Do you have a wiring diagram?

3. Do you have a digital multimeter/voltmeter and a 12 volt test light?

I forgot about the dash light dimmer, make sure it's turned on.

The dash dimmer wheel is an easy diagnosis: with light switch on, one would get positive voltage to the dimmer wheel switch, but no positive voltage coming out of the switch when the dimmer wheel is rotated "on".

If the dimmer wheel switch is truly bad, then one can either bypass it (so instrument panel lights are always on at brightest setting) or replace the switch.

I've got several gray and one tan dimmer wheel switch available (used) if you need one.

Yea I got all running lights and headlights minus high beams. high beams only work when I pull lever back to flash but not in constant? Ill check the other things tomorrow. its weird all dash lights worked (cluster & heater/ac controls) then just stopped.

That confirms the filaments for the high beams are good. That indicates either a bad headlight switch (part of the combination switch) or a bad flasher relay.

Axel Breaker Earl wrote a great How-To about cleaning the arc'ed contacts of the headlight switch, either here or at mazdatrucking.com.

Does the flasher relay (green box, under the dash, driver side) have an audible click when you shift it to the high beam position?
