You will be safe flipping the carb like that, just do whatever is easiest for the linkage and the lines.

Well guys I got it on and it fired up perfectly! Now my only problem is that its acting like the timing is off when I get going about 25-35mph. It starts up perfectly and Idles really well. I loosened one of the adjustment nuts on the distributor to try and see if that would do anything, but nothing seemed to work! Hopefully its not the fuel pump? It was sitting for a while, but I dont think thats my problem.

What is it doing after 25-35mph? At a certain point a Weber switches over from the idle and crossover circuit to the main circuit (around 2500 rpm) so it could possibly be a fuel metering problem under load when it goes to the main circuit.

I can almost top out 1st gear just fine, but when I go from about 3500-4000rpm in 2nd, shifting to third, it starts missing/lagging. But I kind of noticed when I take my foot off the gas, and barley get back on it, it wont start missing untill i give it more than 1/4 throttle.

What does the fuel filter look like/ when these trucks sit too long the fuel tank gets a lot of crap in them, causing a hesitation under load. Our fuel filters are translucent, so easy to inspect.

Ya i recently replaced it before the headgasket blew, and I remember taking the old "original" non translucent one off and I emptied it over a trash can and it was just black... when i put the new translucent one in, i remember immediately seeing junk going into the new filter. Havent checked it since but im not sure if thats the problem

They're easy to check. If it's the translucent white one you can put a flashlight up to it to illuminate the inside and get an idea of condition. Clogged fuel filters can cause all kinds of hinky performance issues.

I use WIX filters from O'Reilly's. The fuel filters are completely clear and most locations keep them in stock. Just a future FYI

Cool deal, I'll file that back for future use I think that's what my buddy Will runs on his 2200 since we found a ton of crap in his tank.

I've had my tank out to change the sending unit and it was very clean inside so I'll probably be switching my filter over to the 92-96 Ford F-150 filter with the mounting bracket and quick locks, and then relocating it to clean up that area of the fenderwell.

Ok well I fired it up today, and let it run for a good 10 minutes, then drove it around our industrial complex and I got up there with a flash light and its crystal clear. I can see the gas slowly moving inside the filter, but im starting to wonder if its my fuel pressure that making the problem?
