Test 1

Goes down more then 1/4"
More like 1 1/2" or so

Test 2

Pedal firms up like test says it should

Test 3

Pedal doesn't seem to drop, problem is pedal is practically on the floor when motor is running, so not sure if there any "down" for it to go

Check valve

Well, I don't feel any air moving either way(suggests valve is bad)
I blew air into it and it "clicked", seems to be sticking

Question, how much "air movement" is supposed to come from booster?
Mine isn't doing much at the booster port itself

Both boosters seem to push air out around center push rod that goes behind master cylinder
That doesn't seem good
Anyone confirm?

Not good.

I have replaced the brake booster on my 1988 B2200, with a lifetime warranty unit from O'Reilly, in 2007, #532111)

Cusser, that's a bad booster isn't it

I sure can't see where a booster that leaks around the pushrod will hold vacuum.

Well, ordered the line with one way valve in it, triple checked booster push rod
Triple checked rear brakes adjustment(rear brakes drag pretty good)
Haven't bit the bullet on any other new parts
Seems pedal "firms up" when pumping, but doesn't seem to step up and get hard(when motor off)
Still all but drops to the floor when pressed and starting motor
Doesn't seem to fall off much when press while running and then turning off motor
Air pushes out around push rod when pedal is pressed
First 2-3 pumps after killing engine, hear an "air" noise from pedal area, then nothing
That one way valve seems to stick randomly(got new one coming)

Anyone ever force bleed brakes?
Open blessed valve, push pedal to floor firmly, close blessed with pedal still down
Repeat few times, then move on to next one

Does the noise sound like a snake hissing? That's what Mrs. Cusser called it when the 1994 Suburban had bad booster.

Of course, she also thought that the "check engine" light was a picture of a submarine. Really. Master's degree...

Hahaha
Submarine

It's something along those lines as far as sound
Another problem I found, on my second booster(one that seems to have best chance of being good)
I can't adjust the push rod
Have sprayed it 3 times and let it sit 24 hours at least
Can't get the adjuster to move

What year make and model is this booster on/from?
I don't have that "90" coming out of booster.mine sticks straight out, my new hose doesn't want to work with that straight out nipple

Did you ever get this fixed?
rcogan   +1y
Yes
just few days ago
changed booster, re-adjusted rear brakes and bled the crap out of it
had to adjust the pushrod a few times as well
