I have a 86 b2000, standard cab, 2.0L - that does not have factory power steering.
Has anyone put a power steering kit in one?
And, did it have to be for an "86" b2000 only, for it to fit?
Also, if you know of someone who has one, or have any ideas where to get the kit in the Seattle area, please let me know.

I would imagine that it wouldnt have to be from the 86 2000 to fit but im not too sure. I also have an 86 2000 but mine has the power steering in it. I could send pics of it if you want a rough idea of what your setup should look like. maybe that would help if you found a setup to see one in there but i dunno.

Thank you for your reply!!
So your saying your 86 came from the factory with power steering?
Some people in this area have told me that the factory 86's did not have that option, and others say that they did come with that option?
And, I was recently told since the original engine at some point was replaced with a crate engine, I can't put power steering in because it won't work? Is yours still has the original engine?
If you wouldn't mind sending me pictures of yours, I would really appreciate it.

U can put most anything u want on them. For example,my 92 B2200 came with automatic,PS,PB and dealer add-on AC. It now has tilt ,cruise, power windows, power locks, power mirrors and the neatest option of all, power headlight washers from a Euro spec B2000---factory.bj

yeah as far as I can tell this entire truck is all factory (stock if you will) 246000 miles on it. I know that the power steering got replaced on it because the pulley had gone bad and sprayed power steering fluid everywhere. That was a mess. But I will try to get a few pics for you in the morning. But yeah you can put almost anything on there. Heck even most parts can be interchanged from my understanding. I happen t have the distributor from a 2200 in my truck right now lol, coincidentally it was cheaper and easier to find at the time than the one for the 2000.

It does not have to come from an 86. It can be any from 86 to 93... All the steering boxes will work from either B2000, B2200, or B2600(i), but my hunch would be that the pump and pump bracket have to come from a B2000. I don't know if the block on the B2200 is the same at the bracket mounting point.
None of the 2600 or 2600i pump brackets will work, I know that for sure.

Here is the setup from an 86 B2000.

Mount location on the block - yours should look the same.

Here is the mount. The power steering pump sits underneath. The mount on the top is the bottom mount for the AC compressor.

And here is the upper mount for the AC compressor.

This is correct.2600 engine was a Mitsubishi and 2600i was Maz but totally different in all respects.bj
