Doing a 302 swap is very tempting, but also very misleading... A v8 swap entails alot of work... Custom mounts, custom driveshaft, possible new rear end, new fuel pump, new electronics for guages and ECU if you go fuel injected... New exhaust pipping... And all that and you havent even turned the key yet!.... You have already began putting work into the motor.. Just keep it going... It could be as little as you lined the piston ring end gaps wrong, or maybe they are not properly seated
