I have a few questions related to swaps. Im looking to ditch my 2.0 for more power. No 4g63 though. Any other suggestions that are powerful and not so pricey maybe bolt up to a km132? Ive projectzerog etc. But looking for some other info. Any suggestions would be great. thanks.

Did some quick thinking... Im not prone to knowing what people want so i came up with a few swap options of my own. Supra mark # swap in a max, s2000 drive train, ka24de swap, etc. But hey weveryone wants to stay dsm. stay but weve got some options people.

Hi Derek,

Here are some four-cylinder engines choices:

G63b 2.0 liter sohc non-turbo: 93 hp

G54b 2.6 liter sohc non-turbo: 109 hp
G54b 2.6 liter sohc Starion/Conquest turbo engine: about 150 hp

4G64 2.4 liter sohc non-turbo: 116 hp

4G63 2.0 liter dohc non-turbo: 140 hp
4G63 2.0 liter dohc turbo: 205 hp

Thx john I did that but also thought outside the box and thought of some options if people wanna go all out. Saw a stok s200 pushing 500hp 30 mpg etc. Thought rear wheel drive few mods and fab. Bad ass rig. But def appreciate that info.

Do you know if the 2.4 can utilize the 2.0 intake weber kit? That was an option i was considering.

why would you go throught the trouble of a motor swap to only gain 20 hp? i could be wrong but isnt the 2.4 a wide block? and fuel injected?

the km132 won't take much power over what a stock 3.0 n/a can dish out......

my ideas for my 87 ram 50 std cab, short bed, 2wd, 5spd, no power anything:

1) 92 expo 2.4 w/ the 8 valve roller cam (non-interference engine!), using 90's max/d50 intake setup to get fuel injection that fits without trouble. would fit stock 6 bolt clutch and narrow bell housing so it would be a super easy swap. the most logical swap for a daily driver!

2) 91 dynasty 2.5 (i have needing a home) w/ balance shafts deleted, dakota oil pan, and '94-'95 dakota transmission (or the 2.5 bell housing swapped onto supra 154). would require some fab work and custom plumbing but i like the chrysler 4 cylinders and it would have about the same power as the mitsu 2.4 and i am more familiar with them than the 4g engines. instead of a chrysler k with a mitsu 2.6, i'd have a mitsu product with a dodge engine so my truck would really be part Dodge and not just say it on the tailgate. it would be one a kind and different than all the people stuffing mopar v8's into our trucks (and get far better gas mileage).

3) late model montero (or eclipse) 3.8 with either the rare R5M31 (imported) RWD 5spd trans or an '05-'06 Kia Sorento 3.5 M5UR1 trans. the mitsu engine and trans would be an easy bolt in job thanks to the existance of mm/d50 3.0 motor mounts and only require some thinking with the wiring and exhaust setup (dual exhaust would be awesome if you could get the driver side past the fuel tank). turbo 4 cylinder power levels without the turbo lag and maintenance issues and be 87 octane friendly too!

all these routes would be more fun to drive than the original 2.0, but also daily driver friendly as i need it to be cheap to gas up (already building a resto-mod Aries wagon that will require premium thanks to a 2.5 T2 intercooled drivetrain).

I know the km wont handle crap for power.. this weekend my clutch fork snapped again. second time this year. Ordered a part. Its faulty due to the weld on the read of the shaft is non exsistant. So i ground down the old fork made my own at my buddys shop and seems to be a hell of a lot stronger. Ordered a new one. Im gunna pick it up this week. As well when I get it im going to weld the rear portion of the fork to the shaft. Use it as a back up. Im sure the one I fabbed up will work just fine till the swap after the first of the year. I picked up a 4g63 for 50 bucks, and a supra transmission for another 50 so gettn the ball rolling. Finally.
