Hello,

I am looking for some new ideas to troubleshoot my 1994 Mighty Max 2.4L Manual SOHC.

I've tested good the alternator, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, and cables, and the starter. I've replaced the fuel pump and filter brand new.

Timing belt is in pristine condition no scratches or ware at all, all teeth still in tact. Drained and changed the oil, drained and cleaned the fuel tank.

The two pulleys are turning over and it sounds like it wants to start but no beans.

Checked all the fuses, did not see one marked specifically for the fuel pump.

How to best test the fuel pump relay for this truck? Any other ideas?

Getting close to stumped.

Ma You Got Me On This One!

Have you messed with your Dist. and got it out of Time.
I know that's what had happened to mine when mine did that.

I just took off the cap to visually inspect it and then ran a test to the spark plugs one at a time to see if there was a spark once ground.

How do you check the timing for the distributor? I got the truck off craigs list so it could very well have been messed with before I got it in the garage.

On Your Timing Cover, Take it Off and You Will See Your Cam Pulley, There will be a Little dot which is your timing mark.

Your Crank has one too and its on the out side of cover with Numbers down there.
Your Crank timing spot is a little cut or a slash on the pulley.

Line it up watch bought top and bottom and see if you can get them to line up together,
When you get them lined up take your spark plug out and see if it is Top Dead Center.
But as far as the Dist. goes I Really don't remember that one.

Hope This Helps Ya!

Yeah the timing cover was so oiled through it just ripped like a piece of paper.

Timing is fine however; and I digress ;'(

A bad ecu could cause your problem

Dropped - Thanks for the note i'll take a look at that too. =)

ECU is tiny on this beast. lol.

Does not look damaged or burnt.

Replaced the spark plugs even though the old ones looked fine. Now it sounds like it is out of gas with 4 gallons of brand new gas in the tank.

Anyone know a good place to get a full engine rebuild kit for this thing? (Including pistons)

Before you do that. Have you done a compression check yet?

Not yet; I had planned to do a compression test before actually looking at a rebuild but I figured I may as well find a good place to find one if it comes to that.
