If you don't want to get the kit from the dealer I would just get one from your local advance auto parts, napa etc. Most of the rebuilds kits you get from places like that contain the same parts just in different packages.

Have you checked the coil? Sorry if you posted you did already.

Fairly new to mechanics, this MM is my first project.

Which coil are you referring to? Ignition coil?

Also, an update; the timing belt does not turn. Turns about a half inch clockwise while cranking then moves counter-clockwise back to starting position when you stop turning the key.

Was going to do a compression test and take a look at the top end of the engine. Just need to get a compression tester.

Anyone know the proper compression for the 1994 2.4L inline 4? Guess I should probably buy a book for this guy or find it online. lol

Yea the ignition coil. Make sure it is working properly. Need to get ahold of a compression tester to make sure the compreesion is correct. I can't remember the correct compression ratio. Should be able to just google it.

The Cylinder Compression Pressure- 130 to 150 psi @ 250 rpm

Took off the valve cover last night, top of the head looks a little burnt but otherwise pretty clean at first glance. Going to pick up a compression tester tonight and see whats good. Thanks qballd and CRX. I'm sure after i'm done with this truck i'll be a guru; have had to check nearly every part on it so far.

Where is the ignition coil located on a 94 2.4L Manual? I have not had any luck finding data on these trucks online aside from this forum, lol =(

It Should Be on The Drivers Side Inner Fender wall In Front Of the Brake Booster

Probably a stupid question but can you still test the ignition coil safely if the valve cover is off?
