You have seen turbo's on 2.4l have you ever built one? If you built one with a td04-10t you will have spool at idle it's not a problem, I built it on purpose to see how it worked. A big turbo is not the best way to go, these engine's are not! built for big RPM, so why would you put a over sized turbo? You are correct about the better standalone ecu but who has $1500 to waste on a aem ems for a truck that's worth $1000 when a $100 super AFC with base computer timing will do the job just fine. Why the head and not the block for oil feed line, this is a simple answer. The turbo needs a very small amount of oil the stock 4g63 2.0l turbo uses the same oil gallery to feed the turbo. I used the oil pump housing take off for the oil pressure gauge to monitor the mains, which are more important than the turbo, plus with our noisy lifters a small amount of oil starvation in the top end is very noticeable, and you can shut it down right away to save the mains/engine. Any other questions are welcome

do you have a picture of this manifold?

As do SOHC turbo'd starion/conquest manifolds, might be the same as the cordia/tredia manifold mxmikie was talking about.

There has been some people discussing options for 2.4 turbos on mightyram50.net , might want to check it out

I checked out the mightyram50.net good info one guy on there with the 4g64 dohc turbo truck build that has good info, many other people on there probably don't know what there talking about, just saying what they have read over and over and over again. Ask any questions you want but ask them from somebody that has been there and done it before you will do yourself a favour.

Actually there are quite a few people who have done turbo swaps on that board including me, so I'm pretty sure some of them know what they are talking about.

I have put up alot of very good info in the last 2 months on how to turbo your 4g64 sohc. I don't care about the head swap I have three dsm heads cleaned up and new seals installed ready to go with full dsm wiring harness/ecu's but you know why I don't go for the swap because I like to be different. Plus I love lowend torque that's why I have a dinan chip on my 535xi because it has over 420 ft lbs. of torque at 1800 rpm and 300ft lbs. at 1500 rpm it should be a diesel haha. Don't get me wrong Iam not attacking you and I think it's great that you are turboing your truck your just doing it the way I could care less about sorry. I like to pound a sqaure peg into a round hole

I hear you about being different and all, no problems with that, I'm the same way most of the time. It just sounded like you were saying none of them were credible or knew what they were talking about, but I see you didn't mean it that way.

The tredia/cordia manifold bolts up but you will need a adapter for the use of DSM style turbo's. It has a different flange. You could use a 9B/13G hybrid from a 1G DSM auto and a 3k GT twin turbo or stealth turbos for the 9B's. The starion manifold pictured is not an US market one. The us market used a different style head, more like the DOHC, then our 8v SOHC. Its from australia and such.

9B's ? they have a three bolt flange plus they flow so little "read tiny" on the exhaust side they would never work for our "big displacement" motors 2.4 Ltr vs. 1.5 Ltr remember they are twin turbo two turbos on 3.0 ltr v6 that came stock with td04-9b 9 psi boost the jdm "sport" version ran Td04-13g's they ran 13 psi boost unless you are going to make some fancy manifold to twin turbo a 4g64 motor I can't see you using one single 9b anything. The adapter that you mention adds a couple inches in length putting the turbo and downpipe even further away from those small exhaust manifold bolt putting more stress on the bolts also you can't put the downpipe straight down because the truck frame is in the way.

Being "different" is well and good, but there is a reason starion guys and even max/d50 guys eventually go with the DOHC. Its simply better. And your still going to have better torque with the DOHC, so not sure where your going with that...
