Hi Dale,
You have a problem with your starting system. This is one of the easiest system to troubleshoot. it includes:
The battery,
the negative battery cable and its connections,
the positive battery cable and its connections,
the ground straps from the engine to the frame,
the wire from the ignition switch to the starter,
the ignition switch,
neutral safety switch (automatic transmission only),
clutch safety switch (I don't know if your truck has one),
the starter and the solenoid.
Remove the starter and battery. Have them tested at an auto parts store.
Since the truck runs when you push start it, your ECU is probably okay.
Check, clean and tighten your battery cables.
To check for a bad ignition switch or the small wire connected to the solenoid, run a wire from the battery and touch it to the solenoid connection. The engine should crank.
Next, determine if the ignition switch or the wire is bad.
