floor jack

just bought my first set of hand tools pretty soon going to start working on my 89 ram 50,just wanted to know what size floor jack,what brand,and what size jack stands to buy

Get at least a 5-ton jack, 5-ton stands with a large square footing. I have Craftsman, but it was just a box at Sears.

Don't skimp on your safety by getting too small a load rating on this kind of thing.

even if im only going to be using it once in a while thats the size i should get?

i got a harbor freight alluminum one there pretty light but dont work too good on heavy trucks and they only last a year. but i beat the crap out of mine.

I've had my Craftsman stuff since 1995.
