Yea, you should be able to get the weber to pass the sniffer if it is all adjusted right. I had a weber 4 or so years ago on my 2.0 and used the stock fuel pump. I did what was suggested by someone which was to run another plastic fuel filter inline right before the inlet for the carb, to drop the fuel pressure down a little bit for the weber, worked fine for me.

oh wow i thought that the stock pump wasn't supplying enough fuel so you had to upgrade. but really it's supplying too much? or is it a matter of consistency? i would love to leave the stock pump. let me know of any other pointers, besides the extra fuel filter, to make that work!

thanks man! yeah i just picked up a gasket yesterday so i'm gonna throw it on soon. i've been hearing from everyone i ask that..."you'd be surprised how much oil leaks from the valve cover!"

did you use silicone to tack the entire gasket- or just the cam wedge piece? (the gasket install says DO NOT USE ADHESIVES) haha but it seems like since there are only 2 bolts holding the valve cover on, that it could use a little extra help with a thin layer of RTV...

I only usually use silicon for the half circle.

And yes the stock pump puts out like 6-7psi of pressure and the weber likes about 3-4.

cool. did you have to get creative to make the extra fuel filter fit into the larger fuel line? small hose clamps?

Larger fuel line?I just used my original line and got a filter for the same size line and put it right before the inlet for the carb

i have an 87 and i noticed oil leaking from the distributor and took i out and found that someone had put gasket maker where an o-ring should go. so i replaced it and so far no oil on the intake side but i have a bad leak look to be coming from the dipstick.
