Hate to bust your bubble but this is NOT true. Every eclipse and talon and laser equipped with the 4G63T from the factory have an oil feed line directly from the oil filter housing. Go to any DSM site or go look at one. I have owned 3 of them. And had 4 different year turbo motors, they all use the the same port.

The head spot works, yes, but it is not factory. You should research before trying to call someone out.

Perfect example. You can see the braided line going to the turbo top and comming from the oil filter housing.

And if your running any boost on any engine period you should use an intercooler. Doesnt matter where the turbo is located, it still needs an intercooler. Some cars did come without one and some cars can be run without one, but its always, always better to get the air cooled as much as possible before it enters your intake.

lol, I too have owned DSM's and have a 4g63T right now waiting to go BACK in to my truck. Maybe the 7-bolt second gens come like that but I can tell you for sure that the 6bolt motors come stock with it off the back of the head. And it is not a braided oil line stock, it is a pos thin metal line, I know I had to replace it with braided line and hose ends when I had to flip my turbo 180* for my swap . I wasn't trying to call you out either, just stating, but if you dont believe me go search on DSMtuners.com for the answer

EDIT: BTW, I can tell from that picture that's not an oem turbo feed line. Most people go to the oil filter housing because they feel you'll get the best possible oil pressure there and that the oil is "cleaner" coming from there instead of the stock location of the back of the head where oil has already been passed around to the valve train.
Quick search of DSMtuners with posts to support my statement of stock location on back of head and asking if they should move it to oil filter hoising:

Again, not trying to call you out or start a war, just trying to set facts straight.

I totally agree with you about the intercooler, turbos heat up the air A LOT, it is def recommended to have one, although it is fine to not run one but would recommend to keep the boost low. Then again if you're boosting an all stock 2.4 you're going to be wanting to keep the boost low as to not blow it to pieces.

No your right, I appologize. All mine I remember comming from the housing, I did have a 6 bolt, but maybe never messed with that line on that one. So anyway, 6 bolts are from the head and 7 bolt 2G's are from the housing. But it IS recommended to use the oil filter housing location.

That pic was just the first one I saw, the line isnt stock no. But the location is what I was going for.

Sorry again, I see I came across confrontational. Carry on.

No hard feelings here I didn't know that the 2gs came with them down there so my fault too.

well i guess it dosnt matter now. the #3 piston turned side ways today. i bet u can amagine what that lookes like. i pulled the head an its good just the cylinder if f***ed. im pulling the block tomarrow night an having #3 sleeved then bore 124 to match maybe .010 over. im starting my search for pistons any sites that have them? an i found a kit to get ride of the shafts in the motor

Man how the heck did that happen, maybe all the advanced timing you were running? That sucks though man hope you can get it running pretty quick.

I would find a balance shaft eliminator kit for the 4g63 that uses all OEM parts as there are some kits out there that dont have a proper oil hole or groove or something like that that can cause problems.

well i took loads of rock an steel for work 300 to 700lb loads everyday...then to school in sac on the freeway going about 80mph up an back. its been getting worse an worse but im going thro the whole motor . the head is going to the shop to get a valve job an all that stuff tomarrow an tomarrow night im pullen the block it was still running it happened on the freeway it was moken an screamen. this is no dought the best 4cy that is still on the road today it took a dive in davis an it got worse as i let the rpms down. i lost oil psi around 1600 an i stopped really fast it was a lil low over filled it an just smashed it back home like a race caar an it was done. any thing i should do to it while its apart?
