what kind of welders do you guys use. i have a lincoln 135 with gas. im not the most experienced welder in the world but i can lay a pretty nice bead with. until recently, i never knew that flux core is considered shitty and dangerous. how do u guys get your MIG to penetrate, lol. with fluxcore i penetrate easily, lmao. when i use the gas (i use mixed) i can barly penetrate 3/16 metal. i plan on sfbd my truck when i get home from school in about a month and a half and i dont want to use flux core if everyone is saying it is dangerousbecause it is porous or whatever. is my welder too weak or am i a dumbass or both? thanx

the 133 should be fine - you just need to practice some more and play with the heat settings. I have a lincoln sp100 - simmilar to yours just older - and I weld up to 1/4 with it - may take a couple of passes for the 1/4 but it is workable. The 135 should be all you need for the body drop.

would it be a good idea to run a bead of flux core to get the penetration then go over it with the mig?

dude, the problem with Flux every body has it they use the Flux that dosen't require GAS. you can get Flux core wire that u use with Gas and it will hold. i Worked at a Fab shop for a week. LOL, dont ask, anyway. we used flux with gas to build Hitches for enclosed trailers. they where rated at 10,000 Lbs. huge ass hitches. they bolted in the frame rails of a big truck like a kodia or F-750. it will hold and welds so much better and easier with Gas. just ask your welder supplier what kind of gas to run with flux. i can't remember if it was tri mix or co2 mixed with argon. i know it was just co2. can't remember.
