i messed around the last weekend i was home and tried welding flux with gas and it didnt work for me at all. lol turned all black and sh*T, thanks for the info, ill have to hit up the welding shop next time i head home

Flux with gas you will have to chip the slag off but we just used a wire brush on a air grinder and it came off really easy.

u have to watch your temp though. flux with gas you burn hotter than regular hard wire.

main reasons people will say flux is bad is mainly the fact that most of the people in this scene weld with flux on a small dinky ass welder, like my lincoln 100 . but what some don't understand is flux core burns hotter than MIG (gas). some of you guys know that.

flux is like stick/arc/smaw welding. you have to chip the slag off. and now days a stack of dime seems to be the standard, in which isn't even necessary when it comes to bigger welders. just mainly on the smaller welders where the heat needs to be concentrated more for a longer period of time so it makes a good weld
