how many of you on here have taken the entire ebrake off? just wonderin i was thinkin of getting rid of it. ive heard of others doing it before. layin on the ground i dont think it will move much..
im learning the hard way, i should have left it due to registering it in a state that requires a safety inspection. so, now im scrambling to get a set to put back in. there are other options also, like a sand rail manual valve to engage the rear brakes hydraulically (line lock), or a transmission out put shaft mounted caliper/rotor e-brake ( hard to find). but if you pull it off, SAVE IT!!!! lol. If your truck has drum rear brakes every time you engage the e-brake it adjusts the rear drums!
E-brake, what e-brake. Mines gone!
When I finally get mine to lay frame, I plan on keeping the e-brake,will use the stock bracket & weld it on to the CanDo trans mount!
IVE been wanting to ditch mine as well. unless there is a way to lengthen it a bit. right now ive unbolted it in the rear but when my truck is layed out its super tight and actually i think it keeps it from laying all the way out in the rear...its like a 1/2" from laying and i think its cause of the cable running to it. is there a way to lengthen it or would it just be easier to ditch it all together? i lay it out everywhere i go and leave it in gear so its def. not rolling anywhere. lol. and if i do leave it aired up its left in gear.
That was one of the first things I cut out. Then I went to 4 wheel disc, so no chance now.
I traded in the e-brake for laying frame. I figured that's a better e-brake anyways! So yeah, I got rid of mine also.
I built mine around my e-brake, I figured toyota put it on there for a reason, I'll trust their engineering.

Find you a 4wd setup, they are a couple in. longer than the 2wd setup. same design, different length.
