Tire size, need help with the math

I'm stupid when it comes to this tire shit so i need some help. I have some 14 inch rims that came on my car when I bought it, with 185/60's. they measure right at 22.5 inches

what size tire would i need to get 22.5 on a 17 inch rim?

FOR EXAMPLE 205/40R17
205 X .4 X 2 DIVIDED BY 25.4= ? + RIM SIZE 17=23.456

if you have excel on your computer, i made a spreadsheet where i can work the formula out. in three cells put in width "295", height/series "30", and rim diameter "24". then in a 4th cell "=((((("CELL WITH width"/25.4)*"CELL WITH SERIES")/100))*2)+"CELL WITH RIM DIAMETER"

Then i copied the formula one cell down, same formula just formated the cell to convert the total past to 1/8ths.

i need a tire for a stock fullsize chevy wheel thats 15"..... that measures to same size as a 22 inch wheel, 8 inch wide rim, 35 series tall.. what size for the 15?

If you were gonna do lets say a ...255-35-22 which would fit a 22x8 wheel pretty good. A 235-75-15 tire would be just a hair short but are very easy to come by and very close to the same size.

yo dave, the 235/75/15 will be .42" shorter than a 265/35/22, just give yourself a lil extra....p.s thanks for helpin lift my bed earlier

^^245/35/22 is 1/10" shorter than 235/75/15
