people have different opinions of how hot "hot" is. check your diff breather and make sure its clean and that its not clogged to the point of keeping pressure built up in the diff.

Don't know why the seal would be leaking again so soon, knicked, put in cocked, driveline flange worn or grooved, lots of possibilities.
As for the rear getting extremely hot I would suspect maybe when the nut was tighened down it was overtightened and created more preload on the bearings.
The 2wd R&P uses a collapsible crush sleeve to set the pinion bearing preload, once originally set and then taken apart it needs to be retightened to the same torque, if not, and overtightened it can and will crush the sleeve down more creating the tighter bearings, once its crushed thats it, it doesn't spring back if loosened up.

I checked the vent and it was clogged pretty bad...When I cleaned it out the pinion didn't seem to leak as bad, but it still leaks a little. While it was parked overnight I had a piece of cardboard under the rearend to monitor the leakage and it only dripped on it probably two times or so...It seems to leak its worst while I'm moving rather than when it's parked.

I'm gonna change the seal again tonight and I guess we'll see what happens.

I really appreciate the help guys.
