its both practically teh same if its what i'm thinking about

with the wheel sitting like this \/-caster(positive camber) and /\negative camber

...i had bad caster for a while when i got my spindles put on and it wore out my tire.

i'm willing to do the shims myself..he just got me scared to do it when he was talkin about pulling out a tool i dont have.

i wouldnt do that... you'll trash tires like a mo fo. just buy rims that fit. or have the ones you got machined down to fit correctly.

Caster is not the same as camber

Caster is the angle that the ball joints are at with each other you dont want this messed up it will tear up tires fast

What? Where did you hear this? This is not true at all. Caster is the incline of the spindle, yes, but it has nothing to do with tire wear. What it does is set a trail for the front spindle to follow, much like a shopping cart. This incline makes the wheels want to re-center themselves after a turn. There is a good happy medium for a street driven vehicle, which is about 3-5 degrees. You can increase it even more, and it will create a more stable straight lien feeling, but there is a point where it starts to fight you during a turn. Have you ever notice how when you turn your wheels one way one side will camber in, and the other cambers out? That has to do with caster. Its not a noticeable amount of camber, but its there, and its there for a reason.
