Won't Start...

Okay, my truck wouldn't start before. When I turned the key, I heard a clicking noise. Couldn't pinpoint it's exact location, but ti sounded like it was near the starter. So, today I finally got my new starter in. I got everything hooked back up, and when I turn the key, nothing. It's got a good battery in it, because I took it out of my daily driver. Any ideas on how to fix this?

There's a start relay on r/h side above the computer. Also check that you have 12.5 volts at the battery,if not chage it up.

I know my battery is good. I did forget to mention, though, that my truck is an '81. So, that may make a difference.

I just went out and looked. There is some odd box where you stated. What am I supposed to look for there? Everything is connected.

Also, I checked all of the fuses under the dash, and they're fine. Nothing is disconnected under the dash electrically, other than the stereo, and the plugs that went into the heater.

shit would not start......it was the EFI relay....look in the fuse box...should say EFI relay on top.....damn relay was like $60...but it worked....i would go to a junk yard for that though...cuz two days later i found a relay in a yota and i bought it for 2 dollars....shity...oh well....

I now know that the starter does work. I pulled the small wire off, that goes from the ignition to the starter. Then I took a wire, with both ends bare, and connected the two points. It turned over. So, I've split the loom, aned chased the lead wire down. Through the firewall, under the dash. It splits out and goes into a plug, with 4-5 other wires. That plug runs to the ignition. There aren't any flaws in the wire in between there. Any ideas?

That happened to my yota a few years ago. I thought it was the starter so I changed it, and the problem still happened. After much trouble shooting, it ended up being the ignition switch (the thing on the steering columb you put your key into). I changed that, and the problem went away. You can get one at a junk yard for a few bucks.

check your connection to your battery i had the same problem almost changed the starter i even bought it but the guy i took it to fiddled with the battery cables and voila it worked. so try your battery cables first and make sure everything is tight and clean...clean them cables

If you get a new ignition switch, don't you have to get a new key?

Okay. I'm just familiar with my junk yards. None of the vehicles have keys, and you cannot aquire them. So now I need an ignition assembly with a key... Rodney?
