that too but im talking about cleaning the engine bay area. mine right now is nasty and ive tried to do it before, but its like no matter how much i try not to get water in/around da carb it always seems to try to choke out

Clean your motor with carb cleaner. And anything painted, like the valve cover, use oven cleaner. It cleans pretty well, and doesn't screw up the paint. Just don't get the carb or the rotor cap wet and you'll be good.

dont think carb cleaner will work on my greasy engine. its like alota caked on old oil/grease. just tired of looking at a nasty engine. if it was fuel injected no problem woulda stayed clean

So do what I did. Drive it to a pressure washing station (do it legally, lol) and cover your motor in the degreaser they have, then turn the pressure washer on. The majority of that crap will come off. Then use carb and oven cleaner for the rest.

if i do that then the carb will get filled with water...*if only i had a 22re (at least)*

Don't aim the water directly at the carb. I use to wash my engine and bay every time I washed my truck and I never got water in the carb. If you got the factory air cleaner, def. don't worry about getting water in the carb. Also, I used Castrol Super Clean, and a pressure washer. That stuff works better than simple green and engine bright combined.

i duno man i tried cleaning before and it would act like its about to choke out. ima try it one more time i guess, b/c my engine bay is a mess and it needs a serious cleaning

If you get the cap wet your motor won't run well either. I took my truck down the the pressure washer and soaked the motor, had no problems with it.
