ok, 22re, the damn fuel filter is under the intake, there's no way that im going to replace it in the same spot. im planning on relocating it but was wondering if any of you guys have run into the same thing and what you've done. im thinking of using an aftermarket filter like the glass one's with the replaceable element but im affraid the glass one will burst under the pressure of the efi, anyone know of another "replaceable element" style that might hold up?

I personaly think its better to just replace the factory one. I litttle tip, if you still have factory wheel wells. Jack the front of your truck up, take off your pass. side front wheel and it makes it easier to get to. That way you can work through the wheel well & under the intake!

I got a 22r and I just poped mine off and went with a one that goes back at the fuel tank.I cant think of the number but its a Wix thats plastic with ends on either side.Split the fuel hose and put it in line. Then I installed a filter on the vent line so I got rid of the three lines that run to the tank.

problem with the 22R is that it's carb, mine's fuel injected 22RE and runs approx. 38lbs of pressure... yeah i think im gonna end up doing the wheel well thing, thanks for bringing that up, one of those "duh, why didnt i think of that" things... i'd still like to relocate it for the future if anyone comes across anything let me know...

On the 22re's the stock fuel lines have bandjo type fittings coming in & out of the stock filter, & their metric in size. This will be a big problem! keep the stock filter in place!!

Ok cut the banjo fittings off slide the fuel filter inline and use hose clamps.

i was actually thinking about replacing the stock lines alltogether with the filter change and relocation. that would do away with those crappy banjo fittings too.

jus for info i used to have a camaro race car and i used the glass filter u talk about and it worked great i sugest replacing it im doing the swap on my 22re as soon as my stock fuel filter goes bad. by the way it was a 383 stroker and that requires alot of attion so my fuel filter was changed frequently i never had a single problem out of my glass see though. and i had a 750 cfm carb on it!!!

ok guys maybe im not being understood, or maybe you guys just arent reading the posts that i write. there is a huge difference in carbuerated and fuel injected fuel pressures. i also have used the glass filter on many carb engines BUT the fuel injected 22RE puts out way more fuel pressure than a 383 stroker with a 750cfm carb... the 750 should only require around 15lbs of fuel pressure where the stock fuel injection of the 22RE puts out about 38lbs which would probably blow the glass filter apart...

dont be so sure 38 psi is not that much think about it like your air system all the barb fittings and shit and it holds up to 250 so..... here is what u do. take and put on the glass one. the barb fittings should hold up. as far as the actual glass i dont see why i would explode under only 38 psi and i pretty sure they make the same ones in plastic... that will for sure hold the pressure.
