ok i'd like to paint my splash satin black...what i need to know is, what satin black can i use (if any) that won't show terrible water spots. is the dupont dp90 any good? when i say water spots i'm talkin about like when you get a new body panel or hood or something and it comes with the factory black primer on it, when i rains or any time water hits it, it spots up really bad...does the dp90 do this? also, is there another maybe better alternative than the dp90? thanks in advance

i think they make flat/satin clear coats too if you're not just looking for a cheap temporary finish.... i think those dp code primers are what all the ratrod (i like that term for traditional rods) guys use, so it's probably your best bet outside of the flat clears....

when you say flat clears...do you just apply it over the base coat and it still has the same protection

yea u will base/clear it just like normal cept the clear is flat and has not shine.

coo...so will that prevent those awful water spots that you see on flat colors?

the hot rod flat black from dupont is hard to keep clean cuz the 2 days that i had it done to my truck it was just sittin in the shop and it got really dirty just from sittin i would hate to see what it would outside

yup, that's the way to go if that's the final look that you want.

my sonoma is now duponts hot hues hot rod black. I painted the truck 2 weeks ago. I let it sit out in the rain this past weekend and it has no water spots. I talked to dupont before i pained it, and they said its the best satin on the market and you wont have water spots
