So last thursday I was driving in a real bad rain storm and the truck started to hesitate and rough idle on the way home.
The next day I check the oil no water in it but I changed it along with the filter element on my intake.
I fired the truck up and it idled fine until it was warmed up and I applied a lil throttle to it.
Engine totally cut out as almost it was going lean and being starved of fuel.
Then it will start to ruff idle again.
I have no inner fenders so anything in the engine bay is vunerable to water I cant figure out what can be causing the problem any ideas?
I checked all the fuses and plug wires.
Thanks

take the distributor cap off and wipe the inside of it, that should solve your problem

probably got moisture inside the cap, it happens all the time when i clean the engine on my truck

also, check the spark plugs.... i had something similar happen to mine...it wouldnt idle right and during the early stage of acceleration it would sputter really bad kinda like if your in first gear and you pump the throttle. anyways, turned out to be the plugs were bad. and it started to do all that after i drove it one night in the rain and hit a puddle at 50mph.

but check what phatboi said too, cause ive had that happen before but when it did it to me last time it sputtered a few times after i started it and after that it was alright to drive....it didnt persist for days or anything just a lil while. but then again it kinda depends on how much water if any is in there.

thats what i thought too, but when i opened my cap there was a little bit of moisture, i mean a little bit, not enough to make you think it'd give you that much trouble but it did..matter fact last time that happened i tried to start it back up and it backfired hella loud lol

Took the cap off today perfectly dry inside.
Maybe water got into the gas tank
So I added 2 bottles and HEET to the tank with a Bottle of fuel injector cleaner.
Hopefully this helps
I also bought a fuel filter I will install that tommorow.
Any suggestions?

i would check your plugs and wires if that stuff doesnt fix it. a good way to keep the distributer dry is to spray it with silicone spray.

also check your o2 sensor. when mine went out it did the same thing and it was raining lol

yea spark plugs are next on the list man do that and see whats good..or not good i should say

So after i let it run with that stuff in the tank the truck wants to accelerate fine and now its somewhat driveable>
Only at stop signs and lights it idles real bad and wants to shut off.
I gonna change the plugs and fuel filter today.
ANy suggestions?
