im running a doug thorley try-y header with 2-1/4" pipe with a high flow race cat, and a magnaflow exhaust. it sounds pretty good, deep sound but not too ricy sounding. at cruising speeds, its pretty quiet but the sound goes up a lilttle higher as you give it more gas to accelerate. im VERY happy with my exhaust. i dont think you'll be dissapointed with a magnaflow.

Same deal on my truck. It sounds kickass. It sounds pretty cool downshifting too. Especially from 3rd to 2nd gear. Makes that nice popping backfire known of free flowing exhaust systems. Its awesome. I just got a Maganaflwo high flow cat on mine though, no race.

For some reason the 22r motors have a lot of exhaust pressure. Try driving one with only the manifold and down pipe. That shit is loud and disturbing, I'm not a fan of cackling 4 cylinder exhaust, so I put a cheap cat. in front of my dynomax helped out a lot. It solved the annoying burp when shifting gears and helped out on the bottom end of power.

Phatty, you said you smell oil? Is this at start up or even after its warm? Have you replaced your head yet? did they put new valve seals in?

hell yeah its loud running an open header. when we broke in my engine, the engine guy recomended to do it open header so i left the exhaust off...it sounded effing amazing but loud as hell. here's a video of it running for the first time.

here is another of it just running getting ready to fine tune the timing. idle was a lil high but no biggy.

bottom end power huh..i still have the same or more pep than i did b4 my exhaust work

i usually smell it when i crank it up, im pretty sure its my oil seals. i plan to replace them when i finally do my headagasket replacement

When you do your head get a head gasket kit, It comes with all the gaskets, seals, etc needed plus the valve seals. Do it while its apart.

If you smell it when it first strat running ans your not noticing any large amounts of oil consumption than i'd say its your valve seals.
