I used a miller 135 for a year. Worked excellent on bodywork, but lacked for thick metals over 1/8". I bought a miller 210 about 2 months ago, and absolutely love it.

I have a Millermatic 185 and it's great on framework but I find sometimes even at the lowest voltage setting it burns right through 18 gauge steel pretty quickly... I've been contemplating getting the little 110 at Wal Mart for body work. Got some buddies who used one of those and it had minimal warping on door handles and tailgates.

It depends on what you are working on and how much you want to spend on equipment. i have a lincoln pro mig 175 model 240 volt welder. it can weld thin body panels and then it can weld half inch plate. its great for frames and everything else. do not use flux core, spend the extra money and get a bottle of shielding gas. I have about $850 or so in my welding setup. But its one of the best investments that i have made as far as tools

Cyberweld.com has the best prices on welders.
Miller or hobart even as small as the Hobart 140 is a good enough welder to make frames with and all the way down to sheet metal.
I use a Miller 210 mig for sheet metal stuff, but all my tube arms are made with our Miller Synchrowave 250 DX or our Hobart Cybertig II. we use a Hobart Tigmate to tack parts together and some small aluminum parts. I have a Hobart 135, thats what the 140 replaced, I have had it for over 15 years.
