My 3rd brake light doesnt work on my 94 s10. I have put in new bulbs, checked the fuses in the dash but it still doesnt work. everything else is fine. The cover to the bake light has heat bubbles in it from the two bulbs inside could this be something related? Any ideas?

and i have checked the prongs that the bulb fits in and they are clean

hmm, im thinking your gonna have to shave it probably. Possibly a short somewhere??

shaving isnt an option. first its my daily driver truck, 2nd I got pulled over for it last night. Ended up having 3 cop cars show up one of them a k9 unit that sniffed the truck for drugs. I was PISSED to say the least when they gave me a ticket for it. and PISSED at the fact that they made such a big deal over a 3rd brake light. Believe me i told the cops what i thought. The cop said here in VA every vehicle after 86 has to have a 3rd brake light and if the vehicle didnt come with one from the factory you have to go have one installed yourself. so its got to be fixed.

i think u might have metal touching your wires somewhere. Have u pulled the headliner down yet to take a look?

Why is it illegal to not have a 3rd brake light, when some cars/truck (mainly older) dont come with them? My Chevy LUV doesnt have one...

Oh nevermind... lol I read down in your post a little more... It really helps when you actually read what people say...

Well anyway... that sucks...

i didnt pull the headliner all the way down yet, i did unscrew the dome light and the wires for the 3rd brake light are there behind the dome light and the wires were still soldered to the brake light like they should be and i didnt see any wire sticking out of the insulation. somebody on s10forum said something about a relay and the switch controlling the brake lights. where would the relay be? i know the switch is under the pedal right? and the other brake lights work so i dont think this is the problem but who knows.

the relay would be in the fuse box.

under the hood not the dash one

I did some searching and aparently the 3rd brake light has its own relay. I found 3 relays under my hood on the firewall beside the heater box. I figured out which relay works the 2 rear brake lights by the tailgate But which relay would be the one for the 3rd brake lights. how would i determine that.
