i fixed this problem on min an by brothers both 94' dime the little tabs for power are riveted to the light clip an they go bad... you gotta solder it or you can rig it up by extending the power or ground whichever is bad an jus stickin stripped wire into the light clip with the bulb. anyway its the light housing and connectors you could buy a new one at your local gm dealer but there a pain to get out so try riggin first

hmm i will try that too. i think that i have determined which relay the 3rd brake light is. becuase i have definatley figured out which relay the regular brake lights are on and that relay has wires in it that tie into another relay and i believe that one is for the 3rd brake light but i will try checking to see if i have juice on those wires before they go into that 3rd brake light socket.
Well you could put a test light on the contacts for the 3rd brake light and see if your getting power to it, that would rule out that the issue is a bulb or lack of good contact b/w the bulb and the housing. Then work your way to the relay until the light starts working...Hope that helps
Mine did the same thing. I used a test light. When i grounded it out and touched the contacts, the brake light would light up. but as soon as I took it off the contacts, it quit working. But i sold it before i could fix it, heh.

Thats what the problem was. I had juice on the wires at the point where they were riveted to the housing on the inside of the truck, but not on the outside. THanks for the help everyone. Hopefully the judge will let me off on the ticket...still have to pay court costs though
