no this hydro boost can be mounted somewhere other than the engine compartment?

not really. you COULD, but you would need to rig up a pretty funky linkage, as it still connects to your brake pedal like a stock one does.
As for the firewall. dont be scared. cut it all out! I started doing what you're thinking of..redoing it all except the steering and booster.but yeah. its all gone now.

thanks for the info brian. so what you guys are saying is just leave that section of the fire wall in tact and smooth out the rest.

Yeah ...i thought it would be just as easy to just drill out the holes for the booster and steering but then i got to lookin at it and the area where the booster is attatched is reinforced on the inside of the cab and has the mount for my brake pedal to swing on so I thought it best to leave that section be and cut out the rest.....
