i wouldn't use a stick welder too much for frame work, sure they can make a nice weld, but it's alot more work than a wire welder

I bought a small 90 amp wire welder for $120 new at harbor freight, and I've bagged 3 trucks with it and had no problems at all. It is a flux welder so there's no need for a gas bottle

here's my welds on some 3/16" steel stepnotches on my little brother's truck

not bad for a $120 welder i think....1/2 of the work is preparation and be patient, don't rush yourself

that looks like shit for penetration. even flux core i would be sketched out about doing that. I just bought a 180amp hobart welder and even with that running flux wire i would prolly just get enough penetration for the weld to be structural.

um no, every weld is burnt in very solid, he tows our 2 jetskis and drives this thing daily. I used the same welder to do my truck and it's been driven for 50k miles since i bagged it 2 years ago

you don't need to turn your welder up hot as shit on an s-10 frame, it's less than 1/8" thick

usually its not the brand of the welder, but the person welding it.

yea but experience only gets you so far especially trying to weld 3/16 plate to a frame with a 130amp or lower flux core welder.
