there are a couple ways to check it you could put a fuel pressure gage on it and cut on the truck, but that only tells you if it is working or you could get like a power window motor and get a fuel pump harness plug it in if it turns the motor you have a bad pump.

you can tap in with the fuel gage on the fuel injector rail there should be a black cap over the end of the line just like an a/c line.

if you want to test to see if its your fuel pump...just spray starter fluid in the intake when your truck isnt starting....if it sarts up with the fluid in there than you know your truck isnt getting fuel......if it doesnt it is something else.

hey, sounds like the same damn thing with my van, for a while it would just run like crap and my service engine soon light would come on, then when it died... i couldnt start it for a few hours, and lately, when it dies, it takes forever and alot of starting fluid to get it started, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, lemme know, sounds almost exactly like the problems you guys are having
