It runs horizontally across the vehicle connecting the axle to the frame, allowing only up and down movement.

It needs to go from the axel, straight over to the frame. Just as your link bars control fron to rear movement. The panhard controls side to side. Look at my profile there is a pic on there that may give you an idea. If I wasnt an idiot I could post the pic on here. But I cant figure all that html crap out.

for TDP

youll need to set your axle at drive height, then set the panhard bar up so its level to the ground. that way you dont get much side to side movement while youre driving. i wouldnt set it up like TDP had unless you have a very high-misalignment joints on it (hes running superpivots).

why run panhard bars on adjustable suspensions? there are better options out there.

Yes, you need to weld it from the rearend axle tube over to the frame rail. The mounting points that will be welded to the axle housing and frame rail need to be straight across from each other, side to side. Now, the bar only need to be on a level plane when it is at ride height. Set your truck up on jack stands with a jack under the rear end. Center the rear end between the frame rails (take good measurments here it has to be dead on, dead on at ride height also.) Now decide on your mounting points on the rear end tube and frame rail using a level across the the pan hard bar. Mark these points with a Sharpie marker. A good frame rail mounting point would be the center of the rear most lower leg of your C notch (unless you have boxed in the entire frame). When you have decided on a your mounting points, Make sure to move the rear end up and down it's full travel to check for any binding or interference. Make sure you do good welding here. Clean away any paint or grime and wipe clean with solvent. These welds you are getting ready to lay down could be the differnce beween a solid rear end mount and your rear end in a ditch or worse. Good luck!

yup thelonger the bar the better, and set it up at right height, the bar level and rear end centered.

u need to moutn ur panhard bar as long as possible and evenw ith the axle u could even fab up a bracket to move the bar out past ur frame rail if u have the clearence so u have much less travel from side to side when lifting nlowering ur truck, but id have to strongly suggest a triangulated 4 link its the only way to got wit bags man
