Anyone happen to have a spare passenger side, rear hardline laying around? lol. Mine somehow has a small hole in it.. so my truck's been parked for a few days

just make a new one

Someone told me it has to be a double inverted flare, if I even knew what that was.. I might try it LOL

take the line down to your local brake shop, have them cut the section out that has the whole in it, then just have them put a new piece of line in, of what was cut out.shouldnt cost more than 10-15 bucks including the fittings they would use to reconect.

Would this mean using kind of a union to fix it, or would they replace the complete line? I'd like to have a whole new one rather than a spliced area.. but I'll give some places in town a call tomorrow! thanks

they would just replace that small section that has the whole in it, the splice they use would work fine, theyd use a compression style fitting where the lines would reconnect. its a strong connection b/c half of the ftting goes on then they flare the tube so you get a leak proof seal. if you want a complete line check junkyard 1st, for them to do a whole line with all bends in it you'd probably be better off getting 1 from a dealership then paying a brake shop to bend a whole new one.or even check autozone or other parts stores, sometime they carry pre-bent brake lines.

a compression fitting is an illegal fix for a brake line, plus they often loosen over time and leak. go to the parts store and get one of the similar length. they do sell them at autozone and oreilly in metric and if its not the correct length, make one. the flare can be done with a double flare tool.
I have the tool. if you tell me the exact length of the line, ill make you one.

they also sell the tool at those stores (like $20). it wont look as good as the one thats on the line you buy, but ive never had one leak. just gotta make sure the b-nut is nice and tight.

the tool has also been a life saver for me. seems like my MO is brake line eff ups. cut off wheel hitting it, trying to gently bend it outta the way so the cut off tool wont hit it, and collapsing it. and of course its always happened at like 9:30pm on a Sunday...

so now i always grab a long piece of brake line thats the size of the truck im working on when i get it....just in case. its like $3

Most parts stores(Autozone and O'Reiley) will rent them to you. You pay the $20 then get it back when you are finished. This is especially nice when you break one like I did.
