you know what else i've noticed about toyotas? the damn torsion bar is on the upper control arm instead of the bottom like every other vehicle in the world with torsion bars.... what was toyota smoking when they thought of that? yes the torsion bars are going bye bye

the torsion bars on the 2wd yotas are on the bottom. they are only on the upper on the 4wd ones. if i were you i would either make new upper control arms or have someone fab a HEAVY DUTY set of the up.

If you put the bag on the upper like that it WILL bend the upper arms with all that weight in the front.

You could do it the old-fashioned way and put hydraulics on the other end of the torsion bar. I know a few people who did that back in the day.

thats actually a pretty damn good idea except if i got to doin some major wheeling and rolled up on a rock i'd destroy the hydro cylinders. but thats still a damn good idea. and yeah if i did the way i showed i'd definetly build some custom arms.i'd have byc do em but it seems here lately he's been in over his head with orders

If you want to bend control arms, and break ball joint, mount the bag to the upper arm. The upper arm is not made to support a load, the load bearing arm is the lower.

if thats true then why do 4wd yotas mount the torsion bars to the upper arms?

straight axle, 4link front and rear with semi bags, like the dodge on exteme 4x4. isnt straigt axle better for rock crawling anyways?

Straight axle is much better for crawling. More ground clearance, more flex and articulation, much stronger axles, the list and debates go on and on. You will hardly ever find a hardcore rockcrawler wiht IFS. A few have tried it but end up switching to solid front axle. Most of the toyota guys swap a solid axle into their crawlers. Now prerunners are a different story. An IFS would be better for a prerunner. Go to pirate4x4.com forums and just do a search for IFS and you will find yourself a ton of debates against using IFS on a crawler.

well i'm not going to be doing any hardcore crawling or anything, most extreme thing i'll be doing is runnin through some big mudholes. i'm keeping the IFS because this truck is still my daily and i can't afford to 1)lose my truck for the time it would take to do the swap and 2)do the swap to begin with. so with that out of the way... lets just figure out how i'm going to bag the IFS.

this looks like a job for... MIND 2 METAL!!!
oh RAYYYYYYYYY. i know you get on here if you see this get those gears turnin in ur head and come up with an idea. and then tell me what that idea is and then i'll tell you if it sounds like its worth doin.
