Hey guys. My isuzu 2.3 is knocking. I don't know if its like a bearing or rod or if maybe the oil pump is shot and its not getting oil? Can anyone give me any input as to if their is any type of common issue with the 2.3 having a knock issue? its an 93 isuzu pickup so it has the 88-95 2.3 in it. If it could be because its not getting oil, can someone tell me where the oil pump is located on these trucks?

Thanks guys!!

i also have a 93 isuzu dude, my problems sounds the same as urs. i thought it was my timing belt but my belt is fine. could be a rod but i doubt it, im sure mine and maybe urs is the oil pump took a shit and just fucked up. drain out all ur oil, and take the pan off and check it out. keep me info on this

Have you tried adjusting the valve clearance, I think there like the 2.6 I think they will nock if not properly adjusted

hey tony whats involved in adjusting the clearance because mine has recently started to tick, which sounds like the valve clearance.

my 2.3L took a shit on me a couple years ago. i replaced the head twice. then it took a huge deuce again. i adjusted the valves and the timing and it seemed to be running fine, just not as much power. i checked the fuel pump, and it was just about to shit. so i put in an electric fuel pump, and it's been running good for a few months now.

when i bought it, everyone i talked to said isuzus are very reliable, i'd drive it anywhere anytime. ya right. everytime i see a post about an isuzu, it's an engine problem most of the time.

you can add add a little bit of transmission fluid and it will quit knocking, but if its a big knocking i'd check your oil sump, oil pump, and you valves.

wats up peeps, gotta a question. my 93 isuzu was doin the same thing, so i chexed everything and it was fine, but then i looked in the book and it said it might be th eoil pump? so i jacked my pup up and unbolted all the bolts, but now im stuck cause i can slide the pan out? anyone know how? it say in th ebook unbolt the front 2 motor motor mounts and i think driveshaft and jack the motor up out of it? any one know? kustompup93

my oil pump is run off the timing belt on my 2.6L

yes that is correct...you have to pull the motor on it because of the X-member...I took the cheap way out when I had mine and braced it in a few places first and then cut it out...then once that was finished welded it back and took the other braces out...I dont know if that is a bad way to do it or not but I never had any problems from it anyway
